With prizes from Cookies for Kids Cancer benefactor, OXO, the online event will raise awareness of how everyone can help raise funds for pediatric cancer research…without spending a dime.
The Twitter community will be encouraged to share their baking tips, cookie stories, and bring positive energy to kids and families who need their suport. Cookies for Kids' Cancer, a 501(c)3 non profit, was founded by Gretchen and her husband who were inspired by their son Liams battle with cancer. They were shocked to learn that the main reason over 25% of kids diagnosed with cancer do not survive is because of a lack of effective therapies. And the reason for the lack of therapies was very simple: lack of funding. They pledged to support the development of new and better treatments by giving people a simple way to get involved.
The party will be sponsored by OXO (www.OXO.com, @OXO) and will feature prizes, giveaways, baking tips and plenty of laughs.
"We don’t think about kids cancer unless it’s someone we know” explains Joyce Shulman, Macaroni Kid's Chief Macaroni Mom (@macaronikidHQ). “We have to make sure everyone knows that they can help now, not just when it hits close to them.”
This will be Macaroni Kid’s seventeenth monthly Twitter Party.
The party will be hosted by Macaroni Kid Publisher Mom and blogger extraordinaire, Debby Perry, who is better known by her Twitter handle Supah Mommy (@supahmommy).
Participants are encouraged to RSVP to be eligible for special RSVP-only prizes
